<div class="definition"><div class="short_definition">A weighing-recording [[rain gauge]] that mechanically converts the depth  of accumulated [[precipitation]] during a given period of time to a code disk position.</div><br/> <div class="paragraph">The code disk position is recorded on punched paper tape at selected intervals. The time interval  of recording is 15 minutes and the accumulated precipitation is read to the nearest 2.5 mm (0.10  in.).
