A measure of the ability of a halocarbon source gas to destroy stratospheric ozone, determined relative to an equal mass of chlorofluorocarbon-11.
The ozone-depleting potential is usually determined by examining the effects on the ozone layer of the addition of the compound under investigation using atmospheric models.
