acoustic wave[edit | edit source]
(Or sound wave.) From its Greek origin, akoustikus, meaning related to hearing, acoustic ought to be restricted to sound audible to humans (or animals).
Although this is often the sense in which it used, the term is also used to embrace sound of all frequencies.
