savanna

(Also spelled savannah.) A tropical or subtropical region of grassland and other drought- resistant (xerophilous) vegetation.

This type of growth occurs in regions that have a long dry season (usually “winter-dry”) but a heavy rainy season, and continuously high temperatures.
