livestock safety index

(Abbreviated LSI.) An index of animal heat stress.

Categories defined from the temperature–humidity index (THI) are based upon an increasing death rate of livestock as the THI value becomes larger. LSI has been related to other heat-related responses of mammals such as weight gain, milk production, and blood chemistry.
