rain washout

Capture of particulates and gaseous pollutants by falling raindrops.

In both cases, a "washout coefficient" (Wp) can be estimated that expresses the fractional depletion (X/X0) of the pollutant during a washout period t:

where X0 is the initial pollutant concentration and X is the concentration at time t later.
