F-ratio

F-ratio[edit | edit source]

(Also called variance ratio.) Ordinarily, the ratio of two independent estimates of a common variance.

It is used as a significance test in analysis of variance and is known in this regard as the F- test.


(Rare.) In England, a colloquial term for a sudden gust of wind or the sudden onset of a storm.

Same as: brash

An accumulation of floating ice fragments less than 2 m across, formed by breakage of other ice forms.
