Urban boundary layer
From Glossary of Meteorology
urban boundary layer[edit | edit source]
The internal boundary layer formed when air flows over a city.
It is a mesoscale phenomenon, the characteristics of which are affected by the nature of the urban surface. When a new rural boundary layer downwind of the city forms at the surface, the urban boundary layer is isolated aloft and is then called the urban plume.
