electron

The negatively charged subatomic particle with charge 1.60218 x 10-19 coulombs and rest mass 9.10939 x 10-31 kg.

Each element in the periodic table is characterized by a fixed number of electrons orbiting a much heavier nucleus. The mass of the electron is about 1/1836 that of the proton.
