kinetic energy
The energy that a body possesses as a consequence of its motion, defined as one- half the product of its mass and the square of its speed, (1/2)m'v2.
The kinetic energy per unit volume of a fluid parcel is thus (1/2)ρv2, where ρ is the density and v the speed of the parcel.
