Defense Meteorological Satellite Program

(Abbreviated DMSP.) A series of polar orbiting sun- synchronous satellites operated by the U.S. Department of Defense.

The first in the series (DMSP Block 4) was launched in September 1966. The current DMSP instrument payload includes the OLS, SSM/I, and SSM/T.
