Dry growth
From Glossary of Meteorology
dry growth
The condition in the accretion of supercooled water droplets onto ice in which the temperature of the ice remains below the freezing point and the surface is mostly dry, except locally immediately after the drop collisions.
The process of dry growth produces ice with many air cavities and bubbles, called rime.
