Hyperspectral Environmental Suite[edit | edit source]

(Abbreviated HES.) HES is a new hyperspectral sounder was being designed for the GOES-R series of satellites that will provide improved spatial coverage, faster scanning speeds, and a smaller sensing footprint. HES was to resolve over 3000 spectral channels of information in the infrared, providing soundings with increased accuracy and higher vertical resolution. The HES sounder has been delayed (and will probably be renamed) for future GOES series.
