Pressure correlation

pressure correlation

The covariance between pressure and another variable, usually velocity.

An example is

, where p is pressure, w is vertical velocity, the prime denotes a deviation or perturbation from the mean, and the overbar denotes an average. This particular example is related to the vertical redistribution of kinetic energy and can be associated with either turbulence or waves.
