  1. (Also spelled spherics.) The study of atmospherics, especially from a meteorological point of view.

    This involves techniques of locating and tracking atmospherics sources and evaluating received signals (waveform, frequency, etc.) in terms of source.

  2. Same as atmospherics.


(Also called atmospheric interference, strays, sferics.) The radio frequency electromagnetic radiation originating, principally, in the irregular surges of charge in thunderstorm lightning discharges.
