Winds-aloft plotting board

From Glossary of Meteorology

winds-aloft plotting board

A graphical aid used in the reduction of data from a winds-aloft observation.

The board is designed so that the projections of the path of a balloon as a function of azimuth may be graphed in a convenient manner. The separation of the points that correspond to the horizontal wind is read from a special measuring scale converting distance to speed.
