narrow-sector recorder[edit | edit source]

A radio direction-finder with which atmospherics are received from a limited sector related to the position of the antenna.

The antenna is usually rotated continuously and the bearings of the atmospherics recorded automatically.
See sferics.


(Also called atmospheric interference, strays, sferics.) The radio frequency electromagnetic radiation originating, principally, in the irregular surges of charge in thunderstorm lightning discharges.
